Saphara has two trips for students in higher education. They give our young people the opportunity to teach at SNEHA school in Dehradun and to explore northern India.
The first team is made up of university students from UK and Ireland who travel out for three weeks in the summer, much like the school teams. The second is a team of students from St Mary’s and Stranmillis teaching colleges who perform part of their teaching practice in India for ten days before Easter. To gain experience teaching in this environment is invaluable for our students but also offers a chance for the teachers in our Indian schools to exchange ideas and techniques. This has been a very successful year for our student teams and we look forward to the development of these programmes in the future.
“For those of you finding it difficult to imagine SNEHA School, picture an oasis in a life of poverty, a family away from your home and a place where all children can flourish and strive to achieve their dreams.”
